New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday held discussions with top NDA ministers to identify measures that are needed to be taken to contain spiralling inflation and ensuring food security.
The meeting, which was held at the 7 RCR, was attended by Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh and Food and Civil Supplies Minister Ram Vilas Paswan.
In line with the Centre's promise to work in close coordination with state governments, Modi has set July 5 set as deadline for states to identify beneficiaries.
During the meeting, the ministers also discussed measures required to curb hoarding and black marketing of essential commodities.
The Food Security Act, passed by Parliament last year, aims at providing highly subsidised foodgrain to its 800 million poor people as also continuation of the support price for the farmers.
