A special lecture was held in Kumbhnagari on Sunday, where former President of India, Ramnath Kovind, served as the chief guest and emphasized the need for implementing the "One Nation, One Election" system. Highlighting the frequent electoral cycles—ranging from Panchayat to Assembly to Lok Sabha elections—he noted how these recurring events disrupt the country’s developmental work. He pointed out that, according to the Election Commission, elections conducted every three years incur costs between Rs 5 lakh to Rs 7 lakh crores, significantly impacting the nation’s economy.
Kovind further stressed the burden on educators, as teachers play a pivotal role in managing election duties, leading to prolonged school closures and academic disruptions for students. A unified election process, he argued, would minimize expenses and streamline the election-related impact on governance and education.
