New Delhi: Thousands of users across India were left frustrated on Thursday morning as UPI services suddenly went down, disrupting digital payments for both individuals and businesses. This is the fourth major outage this year, raising concerns over the reliability of the widely-used payment system.
The glitch affected transactions at several major banks, including HDFC Bank, State Bank of India, Bank of Baroda, and Kotak Mahindra Bank.
The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), which operates the UPI network, addressed the disruption in a post on X (formerly Twitter). It stated, “Regret inconvenience on intermittent UPI connectivity issues, as a few of the banks were having some internal technical problems. NPCI systems have been working fine, and we have worked with these banks to ensure quick resolution.”
