Biggest Films of 2025: From Kantara: Chapter 1 To War 2 - In Pics

2025 is poised to be a ground-breaking year for Indian cinema, with a lineup of highly anticipated films set to captivate audiences worldwide. Major sequels like War 2 and Kantara 2 are generating excitement, while fresh originals and franchise extensions promise to push the boundaries of storytelling. These releases are expected to elevate the global presence of Indian films.

Action stars Hrithik Roshan and NTR Jr. are set to lock horns in the highly anticipated action sequel War 2, scheduled for release on August 14, 2025. Directed by Ayan Mukerji, the movie is the sixth instalment in the YRF Spy Universe and will star Kiara Advani as the female lead.

The Delhi Files is an upcoming drama written by Vivek Agnihotri, and produced by Pallavi Joshi.  The film is a part of Vivek’s Files trilogy that includes The Kashmir Files and The Tashkent Files. The film stars Pallavi Joshi, Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, and Puneet Issar. 

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan's highly anticipated film Sikandar is set to release on Eid 2025. Directed by AR Murugadoss, the film also stars Rashmika Mandanna, Sharman Joshi, and Sathyaraj. 

Raid was a huge success at the box office and starred Ajay Devgn, Saurabh Shukla, and Illeana D’Cruz in the lead roles. The awaited sequel, Raid 2, helmed by Raj Kumar Gupta, will star Ajay Devgn, Vaani Kapoor, Riteish Deshmukh, and Rajat Kapoor in pivotal roles. 

After the massive success of Gadar 2, Sunny Deol is all geared up for filming his next big project titled Lahore 1947. The film is directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and produced by Aamir Khan under his banner Aamir Khan Productions. 

After the massive success of the blockbuster Kantara, the prequel is expected to continue the unique storytelling blending fantasy and folklore, with fans eagerly awaiting the continuation of Rishab Shetty’s vision. Kantara: Chapter 1 – A Legend will hit the screens on October 2, 2025. The film is anticipated to be the biggest film of the year and is expected to break box-office records.

Jolly LLB saw Arshad Warsi face off with Boman Irani, followed by Akshay Kumar and Annu Kapoor in the second instalment. The third part of the franchise will star Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi and will be directed by Subhash Kapoor. 

Directed by Gopichand Malineni, Jaat will see a face-off between Sunny Deol and Randeep Hooda. Produced by Mythri Movie Maker, the film will also see Saiyami Kher and Regina Cassandra. 

The film has a massive star-studded cast including Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bachchan, Dino Morea, Fardeen Khan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Sonam Bajwa, Nargis Fakhri, Soundarya Sharma, Chitrangadha Singh, Chunky Panday, Ranjeet, Sanjay Dutt, Jackie Shroff, Johnny Lever, and Nikitan Dheer. The film is directed by Tarun Mansukhani and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala.

Directed by Rosshan Andrrews, the thriller will feature Shahid Kapoor in a bold new avatar as a rebellious police officer and will see Pooja Hegde as the female lead.

De De Pyaar De 2, the awaited sequel will see Rakul Preet Singh and Ajay Devgn reprise their roles, and R Madhavan will join the cast. The film will be directed by Anshul Sharma and produced by T-Series Films and Luv Films.

Chhaava, the historical drama based on the life of the Maratha King, Chhatrapati Sambhaji is directed by Laxman Utekar. It will star Vicky Kaushal, Rashmika Mandanna, Akshaye Khanna, Ashutosh Rana, and Neil Bhoopalam.

The first instalment started with Tiger Shroff and Shraddha Kapoor, followed by Tiger and Disha Patani in the second part, and Shraddha returned for the third instalment. The fourth instalment will star Tiger Shroff, Sanjay Dutt, Sonam Bajwa, and Harnaaz Sandhu. The film will see its theatrical release on September 5, 2025.

After Pathaan, Tiger, and War, YRF is expanding its spy universe with its next film, Alpha. The film directed by  Shiv Rawail will be headlined by two female stars, Alia Bhatt and Sharvari Wagh. Anil Kapoor and Bobby Deol will also join the cast.
