Beautiful and poisonous, blue bottle jellyfish surfaces in Mumbai, citizens warned to keep distance - In Pics

A blue bottle jellyfish, commonly known as Portugese man-of-war, washed up shore Mumbai's Juhu beach causing concerns as the stunningly beautiful but poisonous jellyfish and can kill a person with one little sting.  See Pics

In order to create awareness about this, the Mangrove Cell in association with the Marine Life of Mumbai (MLOM) issued a warning. The precautions were necessitated after several jellyfish washed up on shore and many Mumbaikars were stung by them a few years ago. 

The sting of the jellyfish can cause rashes, swelling and terrible pain. If is advised to pour seawater on it or in a worst-case scenario, the victim is asked to visit the hospital.

These marine creatures usually end up dead as it is difficult for them to get back into the water as once they are washed up the shore. They get stuck in the sand and movement becomes difficult causing them to die.
