Touted As India's Richest IAS Officer, This Govt Servant Once Took Just Re 1 As Salary, Know His Source Of Wealth

Amit Kataria, a very popular IAS officer, is notable for his service record and professional accomplishments. He is also touted to be the richest civil servant in the nation, with an estimated net worth of Rs 8.9 crore, according to several media reports. 

An IIT alumnus, Kataria entered the civil services to serve his nation. According to reports, he reportedly accepted a symbolic pay of Re 1 at the start of his profession.

Amit Kataria completed his early education at Delhi Public School in RK Puram. He pursued his B.Tech in Electrical Engineering from IIT Delhi. His father reportedly served as a government teacher. Kataria's desire to serve his nation led him to join the civil services. 

Kataria achieved an 18th rank in the 2003 UPSC examination. According to reports, he showed his dedication by accepting a symbolic pay of Rs 1 at the start of his profession. 

A resident of Gurugram, Amit Kataria is a distinguished IAS officer of the 2004 Chhattisgarh cadre. After spending seven years on central deputation, Kataria is now posted back in Chhattisgarh. Prior to his return, Kataria served as Joint Secretary in the Department of Rural Development. He has previously held several key positions in Chhattisgarh, including District Collector across multiple districts.

Kataria was in the news in 2015. As the Bastar District Collector, he welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi in sunglasses, which many people felt was inappropriate. The incident occurred when Prime Minister Modi visited Bastar with Raman Singh as the chief minister of Chhattisgarh.

Kataria is married to Asmita Handa, a commercial pilot. According to multiple media accounts, the majority of Kataria's fortune which is estimated at Rs 8.9 crore (net worty), comes from his family's real estate assets in Delhi NCR.
