India's Fastest Train: Its Not Tejas Express, Rajdhani, Shatabdi, Duronto; Connects Major Cities- Details

The fastest train in India is the Vande Bharat Express, which has set a new standard for speed and comfort on the Indian rail network. 

Vande Bharat can reach speeds of 180 km/h, with an operational speed of 160 km/h. It marks a new era in Indian rail travel, providing faster, more comfortable journeys. Indian Railways has prioritized safety fencing on high-speed track sections.

Vande Bharat features include KAVACH safety system, 160 km/h speed, ergonomic reclining seats, mobile charging sockets, mini pantry, special lavatory for Divyangjan, emergency alarms, CCTV, fire extinguishers, and automatic plug doors for enhanced comfort and security.

Earnings rose by 4 per cent between April and December 2024-25, with Rs 1.26 lakh crore from freight operations. Passenger segment earnings of this train grew 6 per cent, reaching Rs 55,988 crore.

Capital expenditure in 2024-25 saw a 2 per cent increase, with investments rising to ₹1.92 lakh crore, highlighting the government's commitment to infrastructure development.

The Tejas Express operational speed is 130 km/h (81 mph), which is limited by safety protocols and track restrictions.

Tejas coach is fitted with six CCTV cameras that provide live recordings, featuring day-night vision, facial recognition in low light, and a Network Video Recorder. The train also has automatic plug doors, with all main entrance doors centrally controlled by the guard. The train will only start once all doors are securely closed. (Image: ANI)
