Holding minor girl's hand and opening pant's zip not sexual crime under POCSO: Bombay HC

The Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court passed the order in a case pertaining to a sexual act involving a 5-year-old girl committed by a 50-year-old man. The single bench of Justice Pushpa Ganediwala ruled that the crime falls under Section 354A (1) (i) of the IPC and not the POCSO Act.

Skin to Skin contact: SC stays Bombay HC order acquitting man under POCSO

The Supreme Court Wednesday stayed the Bombay High Court order which acquitted a man under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act saying ‘groping a minor's breast’ without "skin to skin contact" cannot be termed as sexual assault. A bench of Chief Justice SA Bobde and Justices AS Bopanna and V Ramasubramanian stayed the high court order after Attorney General K K Venugopal mentioned the matter.

Sexual assault under POCSO Act needs 'skin to skin' contact, says Bombay High Court

Justice Pushpa Ganediwala of the Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court, in a judgement passed on January 19, the detailed copy of which was made available now, held that there must be 'skin to skin contact with sexual intent' for an act to be considered sexual assault. She said in her verdict that mere groping will not fall under the definition of sexual assault.

Sonu Sood moves SC in illegal construction case challenging BMC notice

Commenting on the case, Advocate Vineet Dhanda said that this is an attempt to tarnish Sood's image, and no permission was required to carry out alterations inside the building. "Some harsh terms have been used against his client that he is a habitual offender. This is too harsh on him and his image is being tarnished," he added.

Bombay HC rejects Sonu Sood's plea against illegal construction notice

Sood approached the high court earlier this month challenging an order of a city civil court at Dindoshi that had dismissed his suit against the BMC's notice issued over the alleged illegal construction carried out by him. The actor had sought an order from the high court restraining the BMC from taking any coercive action against his residential property in Juhu area.
