England skipper Joe Root became only the 10th batsman to score a century in his 100th Test match as his unbeaten 128 put the visitors in strong position at 263/3 against India after Day One of the first Test in Chennai on Friday. Root put on 200 runs for the third wicket with opener Dominic Sibley, who was dismissed in the final over of day's play for 87. Jasprit Bumrah, playing his first Test at home after 17 Tests, picked up two wickets including that of Sibley to give some cheer to India.
