Bihar SIR Row: ECI Tells SC It Has Published Details Of 65 Lakh Omitted Voters
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has informed the Supreme Court that it has complied with the order to publish the names and reasons for the 65 lakh voters omitted from the draft electoral rolls in poll-bound Bihar.

In its reply, the poll body said that the statutory scheme under the Representation of People Act, 1950, and the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960, does not mandate creating or publishing such a list. As per the ECI, exclusion of a name from the draft rolls is not equivalent to deletion from the electoral rolls.
